Green tea

Green tea is made from the leaves from Camellia sinensi that have undergone minimal oxidation during processing. It originated in China and has become more widespread around the world. Green tea has become the raw material for extracts which are used in various beverages, health foods, dietary supplements and cosmetic items.
Over the last few decades green tea has been subjected to many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its long purported health benefits.
The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant; besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue.
